 Professional Adventures was founded in 2004 by two experienced women travelers who wanted to share their expertise with others.
The co-founders together have over 30 years of experience in international travel, education, community health nursing, personal/professional coaching, philanthropy and knowing how to have fun! This rich background enables them to develop in-depth programs that are thought-provoking, life-changing and filled with exuberance.
Kristina L. Mayer, Ed. D., co-founder of Professional Adventures, is a native Washingtonian. Dr. Mayer is the principal consultant and president of KLMayer Consulting Group, Inc., which provides strategic philanthropy services for foundations, nonprofits and individuals. Dr. Mayer is noted for her ability to creatively work in dynamic and changing environments. She brings extensive background in education change strategies, knowledge management and effective use of formative evaluation to strengthen organizational capacity.
 Karen Bowman, MN, RN, COHN-S, co-founder of Professional Adventures, is a native of Seattle and has been advocating for human and environmental health in the Pacific Northwest for over two decades. Ms. Bowman is a clinical faculty member in the Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing Program at the University of Washington and currently serves as the Environmental Health Specialist for the Washington State Nurses Association. Ms. Bowman is the principal consultant and president of Karen Bowman and Associates, Inc., a global occupational and environmental health consulting firm.
